Ibirapuera Park
This is by far São Paulo's largest and most popular park. Inaugurated in 1954 it covers an area of 1.5 million square meters. Despite its huge size, however, it can crowed at the weekends as hoards of sunbathers and sports enthusiasts flock to its green area for a brief escape from São Paulo's concrete jungle. The park has an abundance of leisure options, including live music shows every Sunday morning as well as museums, restaurants and playgrounds. For sports lovers there are jogging and cycling tracks as well as 13 different courts for basketball, football, tennis etc. For those who just want to relax there is plenty of green area around the many ponds and lakes within the park. There is even place to hang your hammock and have a picnic. Animals are allowed, but don't forget your pooper scooper.
Avenida Pedro Álvares Cabral, s/n, - Ibirapuera Tel: 5574-0884 Opening Hours: Everyday from 6am to 10pm
