I just got an email from a Brazilian Internet flower shop about St. Valentine, with a view to sending flowers to someone.
Is this the beginning of Valentines Day celebration in Brazil? Those poor Brazilian blokes will be as badly off as us poor foreign blokes in relationships with Brazilian girls (and vice versa).

I just used them, if they are the same ones you posted in the other thread. I can recommend them, g/f currently over the moon with me!
The only downside is that the note only lets you put 200 chars down.

    How much do they cost?

I usually pay about 50 for ordinary flowers and 80 for the fancy stuff!

How many words is 200 characters? Doesn’t sound very much? The best bit about sending flowers here is trying to write portugues poetry!!

honestly, all businesses want is an excuse to make extra money. so in order to accomplish that, they will adopt whatever holiday, from whichever country, however useless it maybe, and slap on a special promoção….

A bit late, anyway, some obs. for a handwritten card:
    você
    estará
    coração
    Deus nos dê

    Hi,
And now, changing this to a grammar class….
I was wondering whether it is also possible to say:
“Espero que Deus nos de a chance de estar juntos”
Would this be correct as well?
Thanks MonicaB and Denise in advance

I would say that both are ok. If you say…

“a chance de estar juntos” (although sounds a little strange, as something is missing)… you could be refering and conjugating the verb “estar” with chance… “a chance de estar”

a chance de estarmos juntos, you have there a hidden pronome “nos”… “a chance de nos estramos juntos”…..

Anyway… lets see what the others have to say…

I would say: “Eu só posso esperar que Deus nos dê a chance de ficarmosjuntos” wich is “I can only hope that God will give us a chance to be together”. It sounds better like that!

    The complete translation is:

“My dear Mauro you will always be in my
    heart!

I can only hope that God will give us a chance to be together.

    forever yours.”

    Português:

“Meu querido Mauro, você estará sempre em meu coração!

Eu só posso esperar que Deus nos dê a chance de ficarmosjuntos.

    Para sempre sua,

    Maryann”

    Talk about hijacking threads!
My 1st option would be ‘estarmos juntos’, it sounds more personal. I think ‘estar juntos’ is correct too, but I’ll have to verify…
    Meemee, I didn’t realize – there’s a typo here: de estamos juntos (it’s estarmos).

Either estarmos or ficarmos would be ok!

    Thanks,
and sorry for the hi-jacking, you’ve all been good-natured hi-jackees!
I would have used “estar” because that’s what I would have used in Spanish, but it’s good to find out about details like these.
    Thanks again

Thank you all so much.I will be writing the card tonight,I’m a little
confused about the word chance. There is no Portuguese word for chance?
I guess I’m a little nervous about giving him this card. But these are my
true feelings. He should know this too! You see he works a lot! He
doesn’t have much free time. He lives an hour away from me.I do see him
5 times a week. For about an hour. But we both are working. We have
known each other for 3 years. This has been a very slow moving
relationship. But we are getting to know each other. But it’s very hard
when we can’t be alone to talk. Thanks again!
