    Would you like to give a little bit more info about why you’re interested in call centers and programmers in Brazil?

    My job is such that I work on the phone and I would like to hire less expensive labor to expand what I do for a living. I am just curious the percentage of English speakers there that can be employed and their education level.
    I lived in Costa Rica for 8 months when I got out college and well I am 100% internet for a living. As long as I in the same time zone as America and have VOIP I can work just as if I am here. I was playing around with the idea of checking out Brazil.
    I need to hire Programmers, fluent english speakers in a call center and setup an office with a small staff.
    So internet infrastructure, office park, living close to work and a gym nearby is basically what I am looking for. My spanish is pretty good but it could be better and I don’t want to go back to Costa Rica – Again I am just exploring the idea. Just imagine you had a real job that paid very well and I work from home and I need to expand – going to a foreign country helps me to keep my profit high and reduce my costs. I am single and have always had a thing for latin ladies.

    If you’re looking at php/mysql and flash programmers you won’t find much that speak fluent english. Most won’t have computer science degrees.
    As for call centers, those are low wage jobs and most won’t be able to speak fluent english.
    Bangalore really would be a better place to look.Confused

    $ 400 ??? that’s R$ 674,39. I’d say you should at least double that. A street sweeper in Rio makes R$ 525 LOLThis ain’t India dude.

    Brazil seems like an adventure and I just need to find programmers or at least a project manager that can direct the programmers to do my bidding and a call center so where I can work with English speakers on a one on one basis and train them.
    So I am looking around the universities and cities that contain them and this will ultimately be the deciding factor. In the us I will have to pay people $100 – $150 a day from a college town to work for me.
    If I make 100,000 USD in revenue monthly why pay us wages in the us? when I can increase my profitability. For all of Brazil problems it seems the most stable country with the BEST looking women.
    I realize alot of these business related questions most people can’t answer. But I do appreciate the comments.

    And here in Brazil, you’ll have two types of university students, the ones that work themselves through school and the ones that don’t need to work. The ones that work themselves through school want fixed jobs, and, if they are smart can make 4K R$ (2352,94 USD) working as a programmer (believe me, there’s a whole bunch in the office here, and most are even fluent in English) so that’s DEFINATELY not the type you’re looking for. The other type of students, well, they will simply not work because they don’t need too.

    You need cheap labour, go to Bangalore. With the US$ worth sh*t, brazil is NOT cheap. Wages are 3 to 4 times those in India (where senior software engineers make US$ 1200). Even when the US$ was worth something, Brazil still was twice as expensive as India. I guess that’s why BenQ moved all their development from Manaus to China (another good and cheap labor market).
    Oh and india has beautiful women too.

    Contract me as your project manager and we can go to the NE to set up and hire a bunch of ‘ex’-hookers to staff the call center. Many have far better English skills than the average University students. Most are students themselves, just ask. Take a look at Joao Pessoa, looks like the next Maljorca. There ought to be some unemployed computer grads from Campinas Grande washed up on the beach there as well. Fun & Sun!!!!

    That’s why the company I was involved with chose Rio. Roughly the same time zone as the states and we were surprised to find a good pool of programmers. Not like Sao Paulo of course, but folks who want to stay in Rio and are happy for jobs here. With the dollar down it’s not going to be as cheap as it was some years ago but if you’re seriously interested I’m happy to discuss the possibilities with you
