My husband and I are moving to Balneario Camboriu for one year, starting in November. We’re looking to rent/lease a good furnished apartment in a safe and quiet location for the entire year. Does anyone know what the best way to find an apartment is? We have consulted: http://www.imoveiscamboriu.com.brand www.camboriuhomes.com.br; among others but the selection of apartments is very limited and most of what we find is not that good. We’re not looking for anything too luxurious, but definetely something comfortable. We’re wondering if real estate or immobiliary companies handle rentals/leases. Any suggestions anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Good luck on your move to Brasil and in particular BC.
Its a great place.
I am in the UK, but have an apartment in BC which I get to as often as I can.
I’m there in October and back again for Christmas and New year, so hopefully I’ll catch up with both of you for a beer.
Check out this site.
It usually has some private adverts in the classified section, under imoveis.
If you need some advice on areas, let me know a bit more of what you’re looking for and what sort of rent you are thinking of paying and I’ll be able to hopefully help out.

hi eclectici have a few friends who own pousadas around Balneario Camboriu. have you thought to stay somewhere temporarily for a few weeks and then sort out where to live in the city after you have checked the local resourses. usually the local imobilaries can work out MUCH cheaper than some of the offeres you find on the internet especially if they are targeting gringoes who they believe are rich. sorting out locally when you arrive also gives you a much better idea of the area you will be moving to. if you want to take this option i can give the phone numbers for a couple of really beautiful pousadas next to the beach with very friendly owners. let me know by pm if you want there details. good luckby the way Balneario Camboriu is a wonderful place to live. you’ll love it here for sure. there should be some meet ups for expats coming up soon there.

By the way. If you decide on Av. Atlantica choose somewhere at the very end of it (north side). You’ll be nearer the way out. Trafic is hopeless on Summer and Sundays all along the avenue.

Yes, that was my experience with the traffic. We went just after New Years and it seemed useless to get in the car during the day as I could walk somewhere quicker. Also I found it disappointing that the central beaches near our hotel were posted as polluted but if you leave the central area I am sure that clears up. But there were good restaurants at reasonable prices and a good offering of material goods to spend your cash on.

Hi YingYang, Thanks for the suggestions. If you can, please send me the numbers of the “pousadas” you would recommend and I’ll give them a call. Thanks!
