I’ve been in SP since January and have yet to find a proper house club (i.e. similar to Shelter NYC, Paradise Garage, Yellow Tokyo, WMC Miami etc.). I’ve heard SP is known for proper parties. I’ve already checked out D-edge and a few other places but can’t find anything I like. Any recommendations?
    TIA

    f**k the clubs…

Daylight parties via your social circle, incredible scenario of people, especially for networking. And not to forget a proper dose of beats! The house scene in SP seems to be fixated at smaller venues, not a giant party mixture.
D-Edge is just a hotspot for the gay community!
    Good Luck

We go Pacha when in São Paulo and have a grate time – although it does not always play house – still we always have an amazing time.
If you find anywhere you like, then please post about it because I’m sure others would like to know also.
    Regards,
    Boycie

Hey BLifestyle I hear you on that one. ‘can’t stand the superclubs. Anywhere where I can find out about these smaller venues online?
My circle of friends tend to go to places like Piu Piu (sp?) or other joints where they have cover bands playing rock from the 80s. It’s kinda cheesy.
    Thanks again.

D-Edge was good a couple of years ago..now it is too popular and expensive.

You need friends with bank in sp. They’ll know the solid parties, if you’re around in March, I’m going to MOB Festival, it’s a boat party, kaskade and a few other main stream names..

If the MTE ever finishes analyzing my work permit application (and approves it) I plan to DJ and setup some parties bringing more of this to Brasil.

Have you heard about the new DJ law? It’s still a projecto de lei, but soon DJs will have to have a DJ diploma, and will only be able to work 6hrs/day and 30hrs/wk. If it’s an event with international DJs, they are exempt from the DJ diploma requirement but, Brazilian professionals are guaranteed participation of at least 70% .
    You gotta love this place!!!!

    Bummer about KDJ.
    @dunga
But of course! This must be the byproduct of all the ‘dj schools’ that have opened in the last decade. Silly. 30hrs/wk is a lot at least. Thanks for the link.

Hmmmm..maybe opening a DJ school would be a good Investor Visa investment……

    Yay Little Dragon!
Any other house/EDM/dubstep lovers here? I am new to Sao Paulo and am going through the same thing. So far the only club I’ve been to was Beco and I really liked it! It played Daft Punk, Justice, Simian Mobile Disco, Phoenix, Two Door Cinema Club, etc. But I’m not sure if it’s something they normally play. The theme was McLovin so it was pretty Amercanized with tradtional old arcade games (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Just Dance haha…….).
I am also looking to meet other Americans, gringoes, Brazilians, anyone in general who likes these types of music. Pls PM me and maybe we can add each other on fb to further discuss music and venues!

I envy you. I’m a bit too old to join the fun now, but I remember those insane, outrageous and decadent raves of the 80’s. Couldn’t keep me away. I still keep in touch with the club kids, although now they are gray haired hipsters. Have fun..get sweaty and let loose.
BTW what is “proper dancing” as opposed to letting it just flow?

You are correct in saying “just letting it flow”….like nobody’s watching proper.

Some of the guys are old school Paradise Garage heads. Age means nothing. Small crowd and worth checking out.

I have encountered some decent sets, but, overall it’s a complete disaster sadly consuming the electronic scene. I would always qualify it to be the pop version of the electronic scene. The inconsistency drives me insane, sadly infecting its disease. It’s funny how the top 40 are irritating yet the common, rather mainstream folk are always bouncing tunes in their melons. And here we have the same type of garbage acting as the unravelling plague it represents.

My curiosity is up. When you say Paradise, are you referring to the clubs in LA and NYC? And by Garage, do you mean the roving, unspecified location music parties of the 80’s and 90’s? Are you east coast or west coast?

    This Paradise:

Also, you’d be supremely interested in watching a documentary called “Maestro” circa 2003 which revisits the culture from back in the day.
Mostly East Coast stuff out of NYC/Chicago/Baltimore etc. If you’ve ever been to WMC (Miami Winter Music Conference) in the last decade and are missing the music be sure to come out on Sunday.

My only problem with the scene is getting my hands on legitimate “convites”. They are always mixed with a bunch of crap that is not nearly as good as Molly and the last ones kept me up for three days and feeling like crap for a week.
