FYI Gringos: Received an email from Gol that they have a sale going on, flights from R$79. Promotional fares can be had until Monday (18Aug).

That ticket price is only for you. For a one way ticket to Chad in Africa. A lot of us here chipped in to make it possible.

I’ll be flying to Brazil in September, and hope to stay until after Christmas. I know it’s better to book a return ticket within the 3 months and then alter the date to extend it so I don’t raise any eyebrows at the airport.

Not sure that there is actually a question in there, but I had problems at check-in at starting airport (Gatwick) with a 6 month return date – and I had a 12 month volunteer visa at the time. I have never been asked for proof of onward travel upon arrival in Brazil, but always have a ticket for 90 days ahead travel with me. I usually enter 2-3 times a year (as a tourist!) without problems, but am usually entering on the return leg of a ticket as I have a house here.
