My wife hates the overnight flight from the U.S. so I was trying to find some combination to get her U.S. to GRU flight during the day.

In the past, TAM had a JFK to GRU daytime flight but it seems to have disappeared. Delta was running one for awhile but I can’t find it either.
The only thing I can find is an American Airlines flight from Miami to GRU. This won’t work for me because there’s no direct flight from my hometown to Miami and my wife doesn’t want to hassle from the other local airports.
Anyone aware of any other daytime roundtrip options?

You can try flying with Copa and connecting in Panama City, but you might have the same no direct flight problem. Taca from El Salvador too.

when i saw this the other day that was the first thing i thought as well. panama was highly touted there as a transfer, might be enjoyable. I hear they have good duty free…..

i took that daytime TAM flight between GRU and JFK (not my choice, client footed the bill). I really, really prefer the night flights!

Actually Copa might not be a bad idea. There’s an 8:00 a.m. flight from O’Hare that connects in Panama City to a flight that lands in GRU at 01:45 a.m. I think that my wife might actually prefer that to an all-nighter. I’m not quite sure why she would prefer it but, then again, I’m not quite sure why she prefers anything.

My wife doesn’t sleep at all on airplanes. She spends the whole night watching everyone else sleep. Ten hours of watching the contrabandistos sleeping is a little too much.

I did the Copa flight that arrives in GIG early morning, business class. Copa flies two 738 versions and the newer version is usually on the GIG run. I like the airline and I liked PTY, small airport, easy to get around with some really nice shops with, surprisingly, good prices. COPA used to have good pricing, but they have increased prices this last year, at least in business class.

Business class has been high this year for direct gru or gig flights this year. (I am thinking of your wife’s inability to sleep, I have the same problem, makes for a long night, so I fly discount business only for the lie flat seats).
If you do spring for business , the cheapest I can find the last two trips is Delta, atl-bsb, then I pick up a cheap GOL flight into Santos Dumont.
