Hi. I’m seeking a matchmaker to find me a Brazilian wife. I’m American, 29 years old, successful and very attractive. I’ve been to Brazil several times but I’m so focused on my career at the moment I don’t see how my dream of finding a Brazilian wife can come true without some outside help.
I’m trying to explore whether a matchmaker can find what I’m looking for. I am looking to avoid any “working girls” and would like to search for educated, middle to upper middle class women. I need someone that has an extensive network of family, friends or other acquaintances they can tap into in order to find someone for me.
Does this sound crazy? Do people like this exist out there and are they legitimate? What would it cost?
Thanks a lot.

Oh dear, so this isn’t about the exploitation of timber workers hidden in the interior of Amazonas?
Actually now that I have come this far, I am reminded of “Silvers” similar post about a year ago.

Is this sort of thing in the site FAQ?
If it isn’t there, then maybe it’s a good idea to put it there.
Matchmakers? Hmm… I guess people forgot about that musician back in 2005 or 2006.

Long and short of it is. Young, good looking people under 35 rarely use such a service here in Brasil……. Sometimes we all like to profile seach on the net on dating sites, thats kinda normal. Infact you should look into getting an orkut account, every one in brasil as one, including lots of cute girls (its like facebook). Dont be in a rush to find somebody to marry just yet mate, take your time and enjoy the dating game! if i can be of any help let me know, i am 27 english and live in Sao Paulo to so its always good to make new friends!

I’d like to differ…
I live in brazil and don’t have one. In fact, I know many people here that don’t have one.

……the start of yet one more (troll-like) forum novela….
Talking about forum novela, last weekend I went past Maria Pinto neck of the woods. I took the train to Newark Airport and went past the Harrison station. Harrison is the place where she hides. Does anyone still have her address… might pay her a visit soon… Big%20smileBy the way, Harrison is 100000 light years away from 5th Ave. (where she said she lived). Harrison is a very industrial area, quite depressing actually.

Matchmakers. Arent they those little chocolate sticks in a variety of flavours? I am sure they do exist. However, they melt quickly. Good for dipping in the sherry after dinner. Actually, I have them dipped in the sherry for me because they melt in my fingers. Todays Tuesday isnt it? Its whist, time I wast there. Yes, matchmakers exist but not for long. Perhaps thats why you dont see them. Hung himself, you say? Over a chocolate and me late for whist. He’s got it all wrong, theres more important things in life than chocolate whist. I was trying to type to the end of the page but when my words got there, another space appeared. So I will stop here.

nope, i didn’t hang myself. this is good feedback too, thanks to all who took the time. i appreciate that most sane people would laugh at someone like me but i don’t think i fit the stereotype of a person that might ask a crazy question like this. i’m well educated, never had problems getting dates (my past girlfriends have all been quite accomplished/beautiful), and i have a successful career. i’m not someone going through a mid-life crisis that just wants a trophy wife.
i honestly believe there must be really smart, beautiful women in brazil that don’t know where to find good men. especially since it’s a country where women outnumber men and where men sometimes have disrespectful attitudes towards women. i need someone to get me in front of these women. i want to explore whether i can connect with someone i would otherwise never have the opportunity of meeting. people like me need somekind of insider or “matchmaker” to achieve this. i actually think the word “introducer” might be more appropriate. in an ideal world someone would tell me that they have friends, cousins, etc. that aren’t married and we’d see if there was any potential there. both parties need to be in it for the right reasons though, i know i am. if all of this sounds like a longshot, well, it probably is. i figure i should at least try whatever avenues i have available to know for sure.

Grieenmango,
I know that there are some sites like match.com and others in Brazil for Brazilians (They are notthose sites like meetarichgringo.com or meetahotbrazilian.com – or along those lines) I just don’t know any of their names… maybe someone in here can help out with that?
Either/Any way that you go, I’d bet that you would be 100 times more successful if you just put your work to the side and went to Brazilfor vacation. It sounds like a lot of people seem to have a good time around Carnival.
especially since it’s a country where women outnumber men and where men sometimes have disrespectful attitudes towards women. i need someone to get me in front of these women.
This seems to be common belief with sextourists, but I think you will be able to find official figures that contradict it. I see no reason why Brazil should have a birth rate other than 50-50 , like everywhere else in the world (apart from China). Having said that, yes, there are women all over the world looking for men, and visa-versa. Sometimes, people need a little bit of help to find the right match, and sites like the forementioned match.com can help in just that. In fact, this is how I found my wife (or better said: she found me). Be warned however. Long distance relationships are far from easy. The world may look small when on the internet, but in real life the distance plays a big role. That is where the problems start.

actually maarten, i did see some statistics on Rio Grande do Sul that proves that women do outnumber men, at least here in this state. its a pretty slim margin though. :)

Actually, thinking about it, I fear I was a bit hasty. Birthrate may be still 50-50 or thereabouts, but in general women outlive men with some years. That would account for a few percents margin in actual total numbers. However, it won’t help mango much. I presume he is looking for someone of at most 30, not 70 or 80.

Hi… I kind of understand what you mean…
It seems I would be the kind of girl you’ve been looking for! I’m beautiful, smart, well-educated and from a good family! However, I’m demanding as well. I could consider marrying a foreign man. But he would have to be open to live in my country (since I have a good job and wouldn’t leave it very easy either!). He would also have to live for some years in my country to understand my culture as well! Would you be ready for that?
Why do foreign guys want to marry Brazilian girls? What I think is funny is that most foreign guys want Brazilian girls because they’re more submissive and would do everything the guy wants (especially moving to his country)! Humm… unless you want a beautiful, smart, well-educated lady to treat her as equals, otherwise you better forget it!

Try http://www.brazilmatchmakers.com. They are legit and I am currently administering their facebook page. They offer a free plan for candidates (people who register but cannot choose members) and paid plans for members (people who register and receive information of appropriate candidates). I think the price ranges from 1500 to 3500/year, depending on the number of candidate files you want to receive. No “working” people involved and all the members are checked to avoid fraud and false identities.
