I have a friend, he’s buddies with Bordain and says Tony hates Brazil. I asked him why and he said no comment. Theft was one reason.

i’ve also heard him say rude things about brazil, but he’s a douche. I think he’s awesome, as i’m kind of a douche myself, and i enjoy watching his programs- at least he’s honest.

He turned out pretty alright considering his past, especially the time spent in the Caribbean.

He is entitled to his own opinions and feelings about the places he visits. He does not have to love them all.
For most part he does a good Job as a culinary reporter/ narrator/ documentarist. He stays to the point and accentuates the positives. Very objective and professional to his credit.
    Tony.

I enjoyed Kitchen Confidential, and he’s all over Net TV here in Sao Paulo, which is pretty good. Smokes, drinks, parties hard, and still catches his flight the next day. Good man, clearly.
I would enjoy a BBQ with him, Adam Richman (Man V Food) and Andre Zimmern (who eats the weird food and did a cameo on one of Boudains shows) as they actually come across as quite fun to hang out with.

Miss the man from Fall River, MA on telly That is Emeril Lagasse. For Brazilians in general, he did an authentic feijoada on Emeril’s Live.

Anthony Bourdain, the half french, half new yorker, egomaniac, reality tv star? There is one of those on every street corner in LA.

I met him when he was touring in Northampton MA. Great guy in person, funny stories and loves to party. I would recommend anyone to take the time to see him during his tour.

Here’s a great Joe Rogan Podcast with him as the guest.

Listening to this made me a fan.

I remember, I think it was No Reservations, they took him to some really awful holes in the earth, he got really sick. If someone had done that to me, I would hate Brazil too.

This country has some crazy stuff to offer. I could have come up with a lot more and better options than they showed on that ridiculous show, less than 2km from my house. If I were Brazilian, I would have been thoroughly embarrassed.

They sent him up the river in a shallow boat to eat horrible food in squalor. What did you expect him to say? He was traveling as a poor person, not as middle class.

I’ve been watching Parts Unknown (Anthony’s CNN show) over the past few weeks on Netflix. It is a really good show. It’s entertaining and you get a feel for the places he is visiting.

    I highly recommend it.

    You get that?

I think he comes across as a pretty cool guy. He sometimes says things in an abrasive matter but I see that as honesty. If someone is all butterflies and flowers all the time, I get to wonder what’s really going on with them.

That’s the feeling I get from most Brazilians: “Flowers and Butterflies” all the time… Give me a blunt New Yorker, Scots or Russian any time- at least I know where I stand Wink

My wife told me that it took some time to get used to me because I am frank and speak what I am thinking. She appreciates it now but in the beginning she told me she “estranhou” LOL

Yes, my wife always gives me the nonsense about Brazilians being direct but when I speak directly to her she says that I’m being “hard”.

Steven, whatever little foiblesthat uniquely beset the female of the Brazilian species, we must remember, nay, emblazon on the mind, that any kind of communication with a woman is ahaphazard and arbitrary affair at best and self-incriminatory at worst. Alwaysremember that you have the right to remain silent and anything you say can andwill be used against you when you least expect it.
