Bom dia Jimmy,

I am in the process of brining my fiance to America on a K-1 visa. I am unclear on a couple of things you were asking. Are you going to live in Brasil or America?  I do know before you go to Brasil you will want to bring you marriage certificate to a Brazilian embassy in America and have it translated. They will then give you a legal brazilian certificate of marriage. I've pasted a link for you that might be helpful. Let me know if I can be of any more assistance.

Hi Jimmy...

My wife is Brazilian too.  We are living in the US and just filed our paperwork on October 31st, 2005 with the immigration department.  I'm going to have to do the same thing to certify our marriage in Brazil, but that's not of major importance right now.  The most important thing we are concentrating on is getting her paperwork in order here in the US.

Let me know if i can be of assistance.  A lot of people helped us out with a lot of great advice, and i can really say that i've learned a LOT about immigration law.  It's frustrating and confusing at times, but overall seems to make pretty good sense (in other words, some things are a major pain in the ass, but at the same time ... you understand why they have to do it that way).
