The procedure of applying for a Brazilian Driver License is very simple. Unlike other countries, you don’t have to retest in Brazil if you are a driver already in your native country (almost all Brazilian states).

Under a temporary or tourist visa you are eligible to get a Brazilian Temporary Driver License.

One of the requirements are Driver License Copy from your country and Brazilian Visa Copy or equivalent document.

Temporary Driver License in Brazil is valid for 6 months in Sao Paulo State and 12 months in Rio De Janeiro State and can be extendable.

Don’t forget to translate your International Driver License to Portuguese. It must be made by a notary public – “Tradutor Juramentado”  or by the Brazilian Consulate to be valid and accepted by Brazilian Law.

In case you are a legal resident in Brazil, you just have to submit the documents required and fulfill a medical test at an authorized clinic by Detran - Department of Traffic).
