The post office offers Sedex (expensive for large parcels), which you can insure, and arrives quickly, but also PAC, which is a more reasonable price for parcels (yet slower delivery, however you can still insure it).

DHL & Fedex are options too, but if a parcel of significant size, too costly.

Thanks for answering.

I don't really wanna sell electronics,just some sport goods.But I'll try the academia first.(when I go to Brasil,of course).This thing about paying in 12 x sem juros is really not what I need.

Strange that this topic is posted under Finding Work.I guess some people have made selling electronics in Brasil their job.

Interesting thread. I know of a couple of Brazilians who have taken this to an industrial scale. One is a flight attendant with Continental Airlines. She pops into Rio twice a month with bags full of goods (mostly clothes) that friends have pre-ordered (typical 1000+ friends and "conhecidos" on facebook). The other person I know has a buddy-pass on Tam (ends up being 50% off regular paid fare) but he brings must of his stuff from Argentina (alcohol, perfume, sun glasses..)

thats a interesting angle also---im heading down to belo-from us next week

my wife is brazilian and she has tons of family and friends-the ups pakages with stuff for her to take down started showing up on our doorstep about 6 weeks ago

watches,sneackers-electronics all seem to be big--brand names are important

what we are thinking of doing is plan several trips ahead of time-let people down there order and send stuff here-and then we just bring it down-for a predetermined premium----after all we are not communists

in the future we are thinking about supplying stores that sell us goods

any suggestions or experiences that people can share would be appreciated

I think you're missing the point, if you paid the duty and taxes it would not be worth it. You should bring a reasonable amount of personal electronics, dont even declare iPhones and iPads for example, if asked, say they are for personal reasons.

Last time I took 5 iPhones with me (thats not reasonable!)...but they never checked, thank god! That pretty much paid for my trip.

I sold my ipads accepting payment in two installments. Sold cheaper than market rate and still made profit. And when I shipped electronics I use Sedex. I already have a friend bring my ps3 and my altec ipod dock in advance, which cost a fortune in brasil. Cos on my return I plan to be packing. Mostly on perfumes. My namorada owns a cloth store so I think perfumes will be easier than we where selling electronics. Hopefully 20 perfumes as the base of my luggage. Handy electronics in my carry on. I should pass :) I've never been stopped though.

Your plan is essentially to not get caught. 20 perfumes is about the same as 5 ipads. Why not mix it up? bring back like 6-8 perfumes and clothing for their store? Or that victorias secret lotion, that stuff goes for about the same markup. A mix of items makes it far more likely you'll get through if they do stop you. Otherwise your plan is the same as someone who loads up their suitcase with 500 ipads. "Don't get caught."

There is just so much to do in Brazil, and so little time to do it all! Planning my next Brazil Vacation and the countdown has started!
