I would say Jurere Internacional in Florianopolis to be the best place in all of Brazil. Why? Great beach and many, many more beaches on the island, beautiful houses, an awesome downtown less than 30 minutes away, nice weather, beautiful and friendly people, low crime, an international flair and maybe just maybe a golf course in a few years. Jurere oh yeah!

Obvious that this Guy Dom knows very little about Brazil at all. How can he possibly think this place is the BEST in Brazil ?? Florianopolis !! No way !! The beauty of Brazil is it's Natural Simplicity. You can go anywhere in the world if you want to get ripped off. No need to go to Florianopolis ? Listen to CaptBill he is a man of wisdom and years and does live in Brazil full time and has been to so many places there as well. You want Beauty , Safety, Real People not phonies, great prices and places ,head north and check out Joao Pessoa
There it is always summer !! Year Round and prices are much better

Easy there, Papa..!
I've been to Floripa and apparently you have not. It's a nice size city, clean, safe and has very nice beaches around, including Camboriu. Plus, if you like a litlle taste of winter, they have it. In fact, Snow is only a couple of hrs away, in Sao joaquim and Sao Jose dos Ausentes. It's just not fair to compare places like JP with Rio, Petropolis or Floripa. Each are different and have their attractiveness. It just depends on what you are looking for: wild beaches, nightlife, estacoes definidas, security, mountains, ocean, etc... Praise JP all you want, but give Floripa some due credit...

Did NOT mean to offend anyone. It is just that being a big city boy myeslf I now look towards a quieter gentler place and am tired of all the wanna be's in this world in Brazil and elsewhere. I am sure these places are nice and I have been to some but I have to add they are not all that much different then Key West or South Beach or The Hamptons for that matter. I think many of them have been aggressively advertised and overly rated as well. I own a place in The Hamptons on Long Island in New York State for years now and I also own property in Florida. These places were so very nice years ago only to have been over sold and over crowded to the point where they are no longer as relaxing and as inviting as they once were It truly is a shame that such natural beauty has to be developed to a point where it will never be the same again. As I only have but a few years left on this planet I enjoy a more laid back place and JP is that sort of a place. Hard to find in Brazil and Impossible to find here in the States for a price you can in JP. I can always visit these other places as I can New York City when I want to but I do not have to live in them. As far as cold and snow why would anyone go to Brazil to find that there ?? |

Papa:
No problem. We all have thick skin here and appreciate all kinds of views.
You wouldn't go to Brazil to see snow. However, for those who LIVE in Brazil, the south is often a popular destination. Take a trip to Gramado, Canela, Blumenau, etc... in July and you'll find thousands of Brazilians looking for a little cold weather and a little european flair. Believe it or not, some people do get sick of the heat and look forward to a little cold weather from time to time. Regarding the US beaches you've mentioned, with the exception of FL, they shouldn't even be in the same sentence with the Brazilian beaches. In the northeast, the sand is thick and course, the water is cold and cloudy and the boardwalks leave a lot to wish for. No coconuts, no good bars, no great biquinis. Still, a weekly rental runs at around US$3,000 and a townhome for US$1.5 Million in New Jersey. Just waaaay too much for what you get. Florida is also overpriced, but the beaches are nicer, especially towards the Keys. California beaches are no good. Been to San Diego and Venice and, unless you are a surfer, its rather sterille and so not tropical... Places like JP and others alike are truly special, and very hard to find for the price. Enjoy...! |

Russ, Remember that I kind of cleaned up my laptop a little in December so I wouldn't have to pay you to do it? Well, part of my Word thing went with the chaff... Oh well, talk about cleaning house... |

As they become more involved and more threatened, aspects of Charley’s past emerge that suggest he hasn’t always been a writer of cheap novels. Now this is just irresistible So what did you do before becoming a writer? |
