A Work Visa might be a different story, as it's not equivalent to Permanency. You'd have to check with Detran, unless someone knows here for sure.
And a British company... I don't suppose they're looking for employees in Sao Paulo are they?

Well if they are interested in another British person, living in SP, with a wide ranging career in Engineering (Civil, Defence and Environmental) and IT knowledge, and more besides... I can email a CV

Just to add, I have a Permanency Visa and CPF, and a work card is just an application away. It might save them some trouble, depending on who they're looking for.
Hard work and travelling is not an issue

Russ, What's the work card and how do you apply for it? I assumed that I could work with just a permanency visa (or at least the protocol saying I've applied) and CPF - my employers don't seem too bothered. |

A work card (carteira de trabalho) is for any legitimate job, as far as I understand it. It's actually a notebook, and the job is written into the book in terms of when you start and finish, vacations etc.
As we all know there's lots of grey market work here, so I'm not sure of all the loopholes. I suspect if you're working as a contractor, or self employed (autonomo) things will be different as well. Edited by Russell |

I work in IS (Information Systems) and I know thats where we have lots of jobs! I am not very technical though so please don't think I sit here and play with my computer all day! We are more into project management, implementation of system and supporting the usage and business with the systems! It is a really big company and the chances are fantastic, I have only worked for them 2 and half years and have spent 1 year in the UK, 1 in South Africa and then moving to Brazil..... I don't know what your looking for but we employ 1000 people in SP so I am sure there is a department that will suit you! |

I've worked in IT for over 10 years (a mix of management, support and strategy), so it sounds possible...
Do you have a contact? Or failing that, if you send me your email via a private message can I forward you a CV to send to the right people?
Excuse my panic, I've been trying to get a full time job here for 2 years

Ola! Is it possible, just, possible, that we have gotten a little bit off the subject of "diving in Brazil" here? Or is it just my caipirinha- soaked mind?

oops! "Driving in Brazil", not "diving in Brazil". Diving can have many different connotations, none of which I wish to enter into tonight! (desculpe)
