![]() Topic: Costa Rica Yellow Fever Vaccine RequirementsPosted: 16 December 2009 at 20:28 |

Has anyone had experience with a Brazilian needing the yellow fever vaccine before being allowed to enter Costa Rica?
My wife was denied entry onto the plane because she didn't have the vaccine. She went and got it but is told she has to wait 10 days before she can enter Costa Rica. Anyone know a way around this? Mark |

Here it says all
visitors to Costa Rica arriving from Brazil (and some other countries) are
now required [blah, blah]. Maybe if one doesn't arrive from Brazil ...
Best Luck!!! |

I know a guy from Costa Ria and went on vacation to Brazil.
When he wanted to return to Costa Rica he also was denied and had to get the vaccine and wait for 10 days. |

We ended up going to Panama City resigned to spend the 10 days there before entering Costa Rica. It was going to be a big pita because we had hotel reservations etc that we couldn't cancel in Costa Rica but we didn't have a better option.
However, what ended up happening is we spent 2 days in Panama and then went by the Copa airlines office. They had screwed up the date change so that we would be entering Costa Rica 9 days after the vaccine shot instead of 10 days. So we went there to change that but in talking with the lady she told us we could enter anytime. Frustrated and not believing her we asked for her to check and make sure. She was very nice and did so and came back and said we "would not have a problem" entering at anytime. So we jumped on a plane the next day, nervously went through passport control in Costa Rica, and had no problems at all. They didn't even ask for the vaccine info. Go figure. |
