That's why these shipping companies offer optional insurance (on value up to a limit of U$1500 usually) at a small extra cost (U$50 on U$1500). If not, missing items have become not such an uncommon occurence with any of even the bigger companies, such as Fastway and Confianca. (The fly-by-night ones are represented by the company whose hundreds of cartons were recently found in a storage locker near Boston. Police are trying to locate the carton owners.) After experiencing these 'disappearances', one friend has taken to wrapping every inch of the entire carton in clear tape, to try to reproduce the plastic wrapping service offered at some airports. So far, it seems to be working.
