I particularly like the irrelevant reference to Harvard. As far as I am aware, this is not a prerequisite to teaching anywhere in the world. |
Actually, (from within a stone's throw of the said institution) it's relevant in that a large number of Brazilians spend huge amounts (with the only entry requirement being that you pay) to take ESL classes at the evening Extension School (in lieu of other programs perhaps just as good) with the understanding that some English schools in Brazil give weight to this "credential" and will employ them to teach based on it. Rather a joke. |
I took ESL classes, but I went to College too....

This darwin award nominee went to college too:
Early Retirement Plan
2008 Darwin Award Nominee
Confirmed True by Darwin
(24 August 2008, Indonesia) Charles had everything going for him when he
flew to Jakarta to visit his family. He had just completed his
International Baccalaureate at King William's College in the Isle of Man,
and his dreams were ambitious. In the school yearbook, he said he planned
retire by the age of 30. The principal of the college later described him
as "a very bright boy with a very bright future."
Unfortunately for Charles, his elite education omitted an important lesson
from the curriculum: Electricity, danger of.
He had one foot in the backyard swimming pool (really!) when he noticed a
cement box near the edge of the pool. It was full of electrical wires
supplying power to the jacuzzi. Curious, Charles started to fiddle with a
fistful of wires. He was immediately rooted to the spot by 240 volts of
electrical current surging through his body.
Early retirement, indeed!
A post-mortem examination determined that Charles' death was "due to
electrocution as a consequence of external grounding of current through the
body while partially immersed in water." The 18-year-old's body was
repatriated to the Isle of Man.

And that makes you different from most anyone posting here HOW? You're not talking to Brazilians without opportunity here. Who do you think is going to be impressed? Those posters with PhD's from the top universities in the world or other professional credentials? There was an arrogant NYC kid on here not too long ago who tried to impress everybody with his education and superior intellect...and didn't succeed very well. |
Actually, one of my highest qualifications is probably unequaled here in Brasil. It is a certificate of attainment from the Her Majesty's forces for climbing a ramshackle tower in the quickest time. No mean feat, I can tell you, and high? Well if my memory serves me incorrectly it was probably three floors high. In fact I think it was four but that's another storey.

Who?
Wasn't it that carpenter kid whose fans came up with the phrase 'turn the other cheek'?
Who said "While one man can discover a certain thing by himself, another is never able to understand it, even if taught by means of all possible expressions and metaphors, and during a long period; his mind can in no way grasp it, his capacity is insufficient for it." ?
Who said "All this is applicable to the intellectual faculties of man. There is a considerable difference between one person and another as regards these faculties, as is well known to philosophers."?
And who said "Do not consider it proof just because it is written in books, for a liar who will deceive with his tongue will not hesitate to do the same with his pen. " ?
"If we could renounce our sageness and discard our wisdom it would be better for the people a hundredfold. "
(The winner who can identify the author(s) of these quotes gets a free trip to Jerusalem old city, with front row seats to the next round of the 'My priest can beat up your priest" campeonato.)

Well tamashin, it shouldn't be long before your door gets kicked in; I just reported this pseudonym of yours to the authorities. They've already tracked your location, no doubt. You know what I'm talking about. You all know what I'm talking about (maybe): http://www.wwltv.com/topstories/stories/wwl120208mlcattle.25041277.html Did you really think you'd be safe in Brazil!? The solidarity between cattle-farmers is immense, and they're all connected! And yes, I did register this account just so that I could rub it in your face (LOL).
