Renounce your citizenship? My understanding is that Brazil is similar to US in that it does not explicitly accept dual citizenship, yet allows it (e.g., no renouncement necessary).
I am planning a move to Brazil with my wife and would stay there for 2-3 years (possibly permanent). Finding work is an obvious concern that seems consistent with other replies posted in these forums. I am wondering what the best approach would be given that we may not stay there para sempre. Someone mentioned that if you get permanent residency, you are allowed to move certain belongings tax free within a 6 month period of moving. I will research to see what other options are available (I currently have a 5 year tourist visa). My understanding of tourist visas is you can stay for 3 months, and can extend to 6 months. Flying back and forth not unlike a Brazilian living in the US with a green card every 6 months, doesn't seem to be the best option, but maybe it is, which is why I'm asking others their opinion. I am sure there is a tie between a certain visa or PR and acquiring a CPF, among other things. |

if I marry a Brazilian on a tourist visa, is there any such thing as a temporary visa I could receive? Or is it permanent residency or get out?
