Anyone has an experience with shipping personal belongings ti Brazil;
I need to take something like 300kg. What is the cheapest way to send it to Brazil?
From Ireland, or UK?

I'd apppreciate any help ;-)

we used http://packandgo.co.uk/ it is a door to door service and we paid about £3 a kg.

They took care of all the paperwork, but look around the board as there is lots of information about what you can and can't ship, unless you are a returning Brazilian; expect to pay tax on luxury items, again this information  is on the board if you search for it.

I checked it out in Poland;
Its quite cheap.
For 300kg, its 200 Euro + taxes and fees - 100 euro.
Seems like 1 euro per kg.

If anyone interested I can send you contacts.

I am sure there are cheaper ways, but your question was about shipping ”From Ireland, or UK"

As my wife was a returning Brazilian it wasn’t a problem for us; but the rules I believe are very different for someone who is not a returning Brazilian.

For example; we shipped a great deal of computer equipment and other electronic equipment that I am informed we would have had to pay tax on had she not been a returning citizen, I'm not sure it would have been cost effective had I been shipping these goods without tax exemption.

Import tax can be very expensive on some items making it price prohibitive, you'll find details on the Brazilian consulate site.

I'm fully aware that the import tax can be a HUGE burden. Do you know how does affect people with the 'investment' visa?
Are you allowed to bring some personal belongings to Brazil?

You will be allowed to bring your personal belongings and a reasonable amount of electronic equipment, I think it is "NEW" stuff they are concerned with, I think if it is over 4 or 6 months old it is OK, but there are threads from people who have done this, I'd try and find them as I didn't have to deal with any of that.

With regard to investment visa allowing you more flexibility with what you can bring, I think a PM to Jose C Santiago may get you the best answer.

I just wonder now...

How about bringing equipment for your business. Is it taxed?
If I want to open photographic studio, I'd be very keen on bringing some equipment from Europe as the prices in Brazil are VERY HIGH.
Can I do that?

Pawel
