How good is her English and how good is your Portuguese? (I am assuming you came for an English speaking country).

Surely common sense dictates that if you have concerns you are careful; don’t give her access to your money or other valuables if you have such concerns but if you really like this person you must give them the benefit of the dought

Act in the same manor you’d act with a newish girlfriend in your home country.

But again I’d say you are in a pointless relationship if there is no trust.

Her English doesn't exist, my Spanish is ok more or less get what is said in Portuguese. But the subtleties are difficult, hence my confusion. It is more confusion and lack of experience in Brazil than mistrust. But in a European sense things don't entirely stack up. What I have learned is that she is smart and just cant figure things out yet..hence my need for all your views..helps to fill in the jigsaw.

One major concern is that her mobile ringer is never turned on, I've never heard her phone ring, but she checks it for calls or texts, always discretly. All the vibes I get are is that at one time or other she was "working" and although she now has a job, I sense that she is a part timer so to speak. But there again I don't know as I have no experience in Brazil. Make sense?

What does she do and how does she live. That may be quite a good indication. If she´s a part-timer, she may just have many gringo boyfriends that "support" her. She might just be looking for the one that bites the hook. Be careful. There´s this dutch forum on Fortaleza where two dudes actually found out they where the "boyfriend" of the same girl.

I don’t know you are your girlfriend so anything I say is just general, but I am more than a little confused as while you have this thread running you also have a thread asking about permanent visa if you marry a Brazilian, are these two threads related?

If she is doing all the chasing in this relationship then you are obviously good-looking with a winning personality - hence her unwavering devotion . Do you find that this has always been the case back home: are attractive women naturally drawn to you?   Ask her if she would like to come to live with you in Spain - if the answer is yes, I'll just go home and faz uma mala, then my advice to you is to run like hell. If she says that she has work or family commitments that demand she stay here, and that she has not yet given enough thought to either you or living overseas, then you may not have to be concerned.

Part timers, free lancers, you name it. Ever tried living on a US$ 200 a month income?

Gut feelings don't lie, but your so called logical/rational side can. It can make excuses, rationalizations, etc.. Your feelings (if you're tuned in enough) can help you distinguish what's really going on. (if you listen).
