you're way ahead of me, the way i work is i write my resume and then forget about the software until i have something due.  when i have something to translate, and am screaming like a maniac, then i'll know.  tell you then.
in the meantime there is a crapload of documentation.  for people techier than me.

In my experience with Open Office, I found what was stated to be Brasilian Portuguese, was actually Portugal Portuguese and caused me some confusion and rather annoyed my husband.  We never did find the actual Brasilian Portuguese version and I eventually gave up and uninstalled it (took to long to start up on a pentium III laptop).  You might just pick up a copy of word on the street, you know, piracy and all is rampant here.
Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might've been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise

I just used this Open Office and it rocks so far....

I just took forever typing out what was probably the funniest joke said here in awhile, but then my post got lost because of a disconnect.  I don't want to type the whole thing out again but the punchline was "Its all Greek to me."

Aaaaw evil connection! Thatīs why I always ctrl+c everything before I click "post".

Well as far as my experience with Open Office goes, .odt is the automatic extension it uses, if you donīt specify you need .doc. I havent tried to change that setting, but I will look into it and let you guys know. :) Also, if anyone already knows how to make office 2007 autosave in compatibility mode, tell me! I havent tried to change that setting either...  if not, I will post it here, in case anyone already uses office 2007.

For some reason, I hate pirated software... I would much rather use a cracked trial versions of stuff. Donīt know why :) Anyone else weird like that? Plus, cracked trial versions are free! I think it has to do with the fact that I donīt trust the content of the CD of the pirated sh*t...

Anyone know if it's possible to down-load videos from youtube and burn them onto a CD or is only possible to upload to that website?  Sorry to change the subject but all the techies just happened to here so I could not resist the opportunity.

There are websites you can use to capture videos. You then download the Video file and have to convert it into the correct format to play in something like Media Player. Its a bit of playing around but can be done. I was playing around with it last week and haven't had a chance to get back to it.

It also depends on how long the video is, the trial software I was using to convert the format has a limit of 1.30 seconds of video unless you pay for it. I'm sure you could find cracked version somewhere but I didnt get a chance to look around.

So if the video is short you'll be ok.

PM if you want to have a try and need help.

Folks getting my resume seem to be having trouble opening the OO version, i did go in and save them manually as .doc, we'll see if they are readable.  i hope so.
