Catholic Church Slams Carnival Condoms A plan to give out millions of free condoms during carnival has been slammed by the Catholic church, citing abstinence and sex before marriage as the better option. 35 million condoms will be given out specifically in Rio, with the national slogan being "With condoms, the good feeling goes on after the party is over." Brazil is famous for its approach to safe sex with a view to reducing AIDS within the country. |

Err, is this really news? The Catholic Church's stance has been well known for quite a while.
What might be more interesting is the fact that the Mexican cardinal Javier Lozano Barragán is making in-roads in the vatican arguing that condoms are pro-life because they stop the spread of AIDS. |

I wonder why there's so much focus on AIDS only when there are other STD's which are also devastating, like HPV, Chlamydia - they're silent diseases and unfortunately, when people find out they have them it's too late to do something. Chlamydia, for example, can lead women to infertility and most of the times there's no symptom. Just food for thought...

Gee, looks like I have a bad memory. It's in the States. Apparently they feel that if girls get a vaccine like this, they will have more sex...
