Camzao, i was also quite surprised at how much interest they took in my laptop.

Maybe they were intersted because my Laptop backpack is designed to conceal the computer and the bag itself looks nothing like a computer bag. The only reason they knew it was there at all was because i i stoppied to check with them that my computer would be safe in the luggage xray.

Thanks Dunga.

I emailed the consulit in Ciudad Del Este about requierments for a tourist visa and it seems pretty reasonable. Much better then the embassy in Bangkok anyway. This is what they told me.

Requirements:

1)  One visa application form per applicant (you get it here in the
office)
properly filled out together with the following documentation:

a) Passport with a minimum remaining validity of six months (it must
also have
at least 2 blank pages available for visa stamp);
-
b) One recent passport type photograph (3x4cm / 1”x½”) of applicant,
front
view in white background.
-
c) tickets or booking of the trip and dates or print out of the booking
with
dates;

d) cost: about US$50,00

You may stay 180 days per year as tourist

Just for the sake of curiosity The consulit in Ciudad Del Este, Paraguay emailed me and said the same as Dunga said earlier, the process for tourist visas usually only takes one day.

To stick with the original subject of this thread. You can see in my post above that you only need a booking not an actual purchased ticket.
