I think she has always been digging, but life was good. You don't throw away the chicken with the golden eggs. However now that the chicken laid the egg right in her nest ....

These stories are coming out all the time and not necessarily with gringoes.
Blimmey, how long have you got Wink

Imagine if the gringo doesnt have any family interested in finding him... goodbye...night, night and all that.

Also, just to mention, How does it happen. I would imagine like alot of things, patience, they wait for the right moment and act out the good caring wife. Its like someone waiting for the lottery, thats how it is for them. But i dont know the details of this case, so no disrespect to the OP. But in many it is like that.

Joint accounts are of the "or" type usually.

Getting that money back may not even be that easy. It was a joint account. You can't even say she stole it, as they are married and it was a joint account.

You might try to reverse the transaction. But you need to act fast. I am sure chances for a fast stay order are slim in Brazil, but if you don't act fast it is entirely pointless.

He may be lucky if he gets half back. It's a conta conjunta, meaning half was hers to begin with. The way I see it, she comitted "furto de coisa comum" art 156.

And agree with Amsterdam, with her son's criminal record, watch your back!

1) being wanted for and having a criminal record are two different things altogether.

2) in the US people are presumed innocent until proven guilty (cough cough)

Another great post where I learned today the danger of a joint account with spouse in Brazil. Keep the balance to the level you won't care if she takes it all. The rest in a seperate account that she cannot look at.

Hit and ........................... run. Haha.

Sven, it is true, innocent until proven guilty. But we all know how that goes here on the forum when someone has found a Brazilian princess.

Seriously I still think this is just another sad story of marriage breaking apart in deceit and burning the earth. This happens all the time anywhere. I can't imagine that someone consciously waits 12 years for their turn.

Joint account in Brazil is no different from US, GBoF. This is classical move for the divorcing wife in the US as well. First sneakily overspend on everything building a cash reserve, then, when the moment of truth comes, clear the joint bank account and run.

File for divorce where the cleared money is not listed in the joint assets and only the husband's future earnings included as a present value of his self-employed business, astronomically overvalued of course, which he has to pay off in installments.

And then the alimony, in Canada or UK probably at an astronomical rate until death doth her part. Oh, and child support too. But that's the smallest of the evils.

Caveat emptor in relationships.

Isn't that true for a spouse anywhere in the world? A credit card with a limit of two pairs of shoes should be enough

I bet her divorce lawyer told her to empty the account. So how much was in it? I say the greater the value the greater the danger in this case....

Whaaat?!?  Here on Gringoes?!?  Such a thing NEVER happens SB!!!  LOL

But if you're right, s/he will probably soon create a 'friend', a sympathizer, with whom to converse via a cascade of rambling and excruciatingly boring posts.  Where's that dahm remote?!?  Surely something better is on....

I might bark, but I don't bite.

(trolls, sock puppets, Brasil-bashers, and "Joined:Today" persons too lazy to use the Search function excluded; cry babies too)
