Gringoes.com: Civil Union/Stable Union certification information

   My girlfriend and I have been looking into getting a Civil Union, as I am from the US and she is a native Brazilian. I know there are some things to go about with it and I've heard it costs around 300 reais or so. However, the info we have found has been back and forth. We plan to call the Policia Federal and other institutions to find out some solid information.

  However, I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what needs to be done for us to be granted the civil union, which would thus allow me to work here as well as live here. 

  Any information on this topic is much appreciated, the documents needs, advice and how to go about it.

	Hi, if you´re looking foward this civil union allows you to live and work here, I´ve been told (by the federal police) the right place to get information is the SNI (Serviço Nacional de Imigração), part of the Ministério do Trabalho. There are offices in Rio, Sao paulo and Belo Horizonte. Good luck!
