So, I am working on getting the ol' PT up to reasonable adult working level and have been doing some research on what resources i can use. I've found some interesting things, so thought i would share. I'm not going to detail each one as i'm not totally invested in any of them, but you might find some good ideas.
http://hackingportuguese.com/the-best-portuguese-resources-on-and-off-the-web/ http://erikspen.wordpress.com/ http://wp.clicrbs.com.br/sualingua/ (this is my fave, i think) http://hackingportuguese.com/roadmaps-to-fluency/ http://hackingportuguese.com/ http://coerll.utexas.edu/brazilpod/cob/ (from the folks who brought you Tá Falado) http://www.inglesnapontadalingua.com.br/ i'm also working on some texts to prep for concursos (Kaspary, Portugues em exercicios) and reading every Revista Piauí I can get my hands on (i'm addicted, and recommend it highly). If you've got any good resources to add, please do so. It's hard to find good stuff once you get past beginner. |

Thanks for these resources Três! UFSC is on strike, and it looks like the 'PT for Foreigners' class will not be offered next semester. These links will no doubt be an excellent tool, and possibly even a better replacement for the class. |

Your time spent reading about Portuguese should be minimal in comparison
to your time spent speaking Portuguese. I'd also try to stay away from
anything with much English in it, like the majority of the links you
posted. Your ability to speak Portuguese in Brazil will be a much greater resource than any web page.
I'd say for native English speakers Portuguese is about the difficulty level of Spanish, more or less. Both have more or less the same amount of respective sounds that don't exist in English and their structures are nearly identical. Just don't get discouraged when the over dramatic Brazilians start wining about how difficult a language Portuguese is : P |

I couldn't agree more. This is a good takeoff once you're comfortable with speaking but need to clean up grammar, vocab particularities, etc, i've found them to be helpful. Maybe you're luckier than I am, but the folks around me don't use correct grammar or have particularly erudite vocabularies, so talking to them only goes so far! |
