Dois policiais civis, cujos nomes ainda são mantidos em sigilo, estão entre os presos durante a operação Clone, desencadeada na manhã desta segunda-feira (23), para desbaratar uma quadrilha especializada em clonagem de cartões de crédito. Let’s not get too excited about this, after all, Hollywood has been making movies about police corruption in the US for many a long year. If anything, the only surprise about the Brazilian police is the presence of sufficient intelligence to have an involvement in this type of crime.

This is totally normal. The best scams are run by the police.
It was the Commercial Crime division of the London Met police which devised the 'inertia' scams using their wives to set up the Telex directory companies.
Criminals are never very amusing. It's because they're failures. Those who make real money aren't counted as criminals. This is a class distinction, not an ethical problem.

In UK police don't normally get arrested for this sort of thing or indeed for anything. At least in Brazil police do get arrested for corruption sometimes.

Yes this perception that the poor somehow go to jail forever is one of the things that pisses me off the most here. The fact is nobody stays in jail for long here. But I have heard the idea that the poor serve thier time while the rich go free from not only foreigners but Brazilians also. Just look at the little speach by the NGO guy in Tropa de Elite 2 about how many people are in jail in Brazil. Simply not true. Many societies, including safer ones, have proportionaly more people in jail. Some would argue that is not necessarily a good thing, however when it comes to murderers and rapists I would say it is. The idea of taking someone truely dangerous off the streets to protect society doesnt seem to exist here.

The fact that I can be a mass murderer, rapist and terrorist and only get 30 years in prison is absurd
