I am proud to be an American!

A country where health insurance companies pay bonuses to employees who find loop holes so they can deny coverage to customers!

A country where people are killed in movie theaters for sport!

WTF is wrong with the USA? Brazil here I come!!!

Insurance companies around the world are built on the strategy of collecting premiums and denying claims.

The movie house event is horrific yet daily violence is easily triple in Brazil than in the USA.

Brazil is a lawless country where you should fear the police. Locals say derss shabby, drive crappy cars, do not draw attention to yourself to reduce risk.

About 30,000 people are killed in violent acts yearly in Brazil. So what on earth is happening in Brazil where people kill over a 5 reais debt...? Relampago kidnappings, home invasions, saidinha bancaria, constant never ending undeclaired civil war.  Shop owners behind bars, closing after dark for fear of robbery.  That is Brazil.

Bankers in Brazil rape the public with rates that would send them to jail in the US and taxes are high with little to show for it. Cars and gas cost double to triple what you pay is the USA. Mainly crappy consumer goods in the shops from China. Pay triple for anything nice with half or less wages. Yes you will are ready for that?

People with money are so afraid they live behind concertina wire, and so do the poor when they save up enought to buy bricks for walls, bars for windows and barbed wire, electric fences, big dogs, etc. Yuck.

Forget Brazil.
If you want an honest country go to New Zealand, the world's least corrupt country.
If you want a caring and civilized society go to Scandinavia.
Don't go to Brazil.
Criminals are never very amusing. It's because they're failures. Those who make real money aren't counted as criminals. This is a class distinction, not an ethical problem.

I agree! Get the hell out of Brazil. I was born in São Paulo and grew up there until I was 19. Now I live in New York City. São Paulo is a real dump! I was mugged twice in São Paulo. I had a friend who was kidnapped, killed, and thrown in a river. Why would anyone want to live in Brazil beats me. Don't run, fly away!

Some people say that the area where i live is a dangerous place, so i decided to venture downtown more at night. One night i was sitting in a bar with the table on the sidewalk listerning to some live music and we heard pop! pop! pop! everyone ran inside the bar including my girlfriend. There was a guy shooting from across the street about 80 meters down from us he was shooting into a cafe.

My girlfriend yelled at me saying, get inside, i sat there and said dont worry, a handgun only has a range of around 50 meters and hes not firing in this direction. I took another sip of my drink and the shooter disappeared into the night.

It must have been the Red Label, what was i thinking Confused

LOL

Despite the Dutch name, as you spoke about going back to the UK I assume you're British, and therefore you've inherited the British natural stoicism.

I had a similar experience on the Isle of Itaparica, the Brazilians diving for cover - even though we were inside a house and the shots were outside - and my British mate and I calmly drinking our beers.

As a nation we´re not given to panic easily in such situations.

Of course the other possible explanation is that we're just stupid! LOL

A friend of mine was sitting happily in the 'cidade maravilhosa' on his patio sitting an ice cold and without even hearing anything different from normal received a 'bala perdida' in his upper arm and spent 4 days in hospital.
