Finally we are getting into our new apartment tomorrow and the question of which service providers are begging. Anyone have any advice on internet service providers in the NE? Any experience good or bad would be appreciated.

Cheers

not sure if they are in the NE, but stay away from Real Online. I use them in Para and the net goes out daily

What city and bairro are you in?

Just back from a prolonged stay up north in a small city inland.
VSAT 128/128 kbps seems to be the standard there.

In the capitals NetVirtua usually offers a 10Mbps link for a not so cheap package with TV and land line.

Personally, i'd make sure you can get it before you move in.

We moved into a flat and could only get internet from Oi Velox. Their service is abysmal, the internet went down for 6 weeks and they did nothing about it, we didn't see a technician once.

I started to look for somewhere else to live.

Sounds like a great opportunity to sue, just like Sven talked about in another thread
