I don't know what planet you are talking about. Louisiana was the last state that I know of to raise the legal drinking age limit to 21 back in 1995. I carried a military ID several years after that and I was UNABLE to get alcohol legally [until I was 21 or get into some clubs] in Louisiana, Virginia, DC, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York, Texas, and some other places. Military have to go by the laws of where they are *AT* and also US military law.

Overseas it gets kind of tricky with SOFA (status of forces agreements) where the US usually tries to get immunity so if the military gets drunk and stupid and kill someone, they are whisked back to the US instead of serving jail time in the country where they are at. I think there was a case like this in Bulgaria or around the Baltics where a Marine got stupid and drunk and almost killed a car load of people, including a famous singer.

When is the US going to learn? You can't put stupid young men overseas....
