Probably a long shot, but does anyone here have ADHD thats being treated in Brazil? Normal rx isnt available here so the options are pretty much limited to transitioning to a new medication or learning to live with bouncing off the ceiling at the end of my supply. Anyone have experiences with treatment here vs your home country?

I am pretty sure there is only Ritalin, and Ritalin Long acting (8 hours) of the most common types of medication used to treat ADHD. I don' think adderral can be bought here yet.

Was on Adderall in the US, the Dr here wants to go with Ritalin, which I was on back in the stone ages and honestly Adderall is just so much more effective and doesnt give the same crappy side effects. The structure for how often the MD needs to be seen is also different (more frequent) here, which is fine, just different. Im mainly just afraid of being embarrassed in public because without it I cant keep my rusty butt still.

I don't know the specific drug that you are taking but when I was in Brazil I was taking some medication that wasn't a "stock" item in Brazil although it was widely used in the U.S. I had to go to a few doctors but finally found one who would have the drug "manipulated", i.e. mortar and pestle like the good old days. The cost is modest.
Brazilians are big on "manipulated" drugs and you can find quite a few pharmacies that do this. Any doctor who really wants to can check up on your drug and order it from a farmacia. Just keep looking for the right doctor. Just like in other places the doctors prefer their favorite treatments but, if you're diligent, you can usually get what you want. |
