I'd say he'd want to get a stable union visa or a marriage visa and not a work visa....

Brasilia is ridiculously expensive.  I mean VERY.  Consider another city.  You're not going to be able to do much of anything on an English teacher's salary.

Forget a tefl certification.  Study Portuguese.  Take classes.

Capital cities tend to be a bit more expensive.

Yeah a bit.  My brother in law pays R$900 a month for a *room* in Brasilia.

spent the last couple of days in brasilia and I have a friend who lives in one of those "$900 rooms",,,man they're small!

But I must say, the eating out wasn't too expensive. I went to several places in Cruzeiro and it was the same as what I would pay here in BH.

But the rent...damn high for sure

And his parents are so proud of all the money he's making, not really thinking that half his salary is going into the cost of maintaining two residences.  Factor that in and I make more than he does, and I don't work but 10 hours a week.

Well if you do go along well and love each other companies more than anyone you ever did, go back to uk and apply for a fiance visa, dude. Relationships that breaks distances like that are worth trying the big step!
