Fairly easy, but not as easy as chickens mostly because they are bigger I find - the male will kill/eat the young if given a chance, and you need to separate the male from the other young males as they grow into adolescents. You also need to separate groups of young males and young females, as they tend to gang-bang their sister females to death, and break wings etc clambering on and off. Necks are surprisingly easy to snap though, unlike Geese. |

I'm sorry. My husband and Brazilian friends all imagine it as a bigger deal than it is. I was presented with varous "gifts" of cheap fireworks - sparklers, cabecoes, etc. etc. to set off in the street, in order or my nation's special day. About half of the neighborhood joined us in the street to set it all off and I was even taught by some 5-year olds the propper way to celebrate with sparklers (estrelinhas)...apparently you have to "rodar" a lot. It probably helped that the people 2 doors down were having a huge party on the laje to celebrate someone's birthday. Next year, if you want to celebrate in Rio, let me know. I usually try to arrange a beer pong tournament (Americans vs. Brits et. all) but this year I slacked. If I had a reason to (like a visitor) I would more than willingly do it again. |

Nikkij...Thank you for invite. I didn't mean to sound so pitiful. You bring smile to my face. Actually, there were many fireworks last night for game, and kinda reminded me of 4th, except fireworks are fairly common here on occasions. Most all brasilians are very kind and friendly, and they are always looking for reason to party. They just have no conception of the 4th. It's only natural given the number type of federal holidays here. Ready for the upcoming "constitution day" or whatever?
Would love to celebrate with expats sometime. I've met few after years in brasil...even less if you don't count the Mormons, God bless 'em. You are very kind. Maybe I will drop you a line next time I'm up your way from SP. My brasilian wife is a party animal, but I am not. |
