This is so funny, holding sandwiches with a napkin is like sooooo true. It has been a cause of a nice little fight between my namorada and me. She is making it a big point that her little one needs to hold his sandwich with a napkin. So she does it too. Of course he then wondered, why does I not use the napkin? If it's the rule of the world, then I surely should do too, right? Then she asked me to hold my sandwich with a napkin too. But I did not see the point of it and was resistant, a bit sensitive of allowing myself be pushed into silly customs. And there you have a nice fight and clash of the cultures.
One mustn't ask what the point of such customs is. Their meaning is that it is considered good style and you must do it to conform and if you don't conform you show that you are ... non-conforming. It's the same thing with circumcision. It has no rhyme or reason, and yet people spin theories about hygiene or whatever. No explanation like this really hits it. It's in the end a question of conformance, are you in or are you out? PS: Anyone else thinks that Brazilian burgers (e.g. cheese burgers) from lanchonetes are really bad? You certainly need to hold that stuff in paper because there is so much squishy stuff on the burger, like corn. ![]() Edited by Squiddie - 18 August 2012 at 14:29 |

No its a Dominos picture, well so i am led to believe, but Iceland would do. These Sadia pizzas are gross, i suppose i could add more ingredients to them to try to liven them up abit. Edited by Amsterdam - 19 August 2012 at 00:08 |

I usually use them as a base, when they're out of pizza bases and I feel too lazy to make my own. Their new Peperoni is ok though |

I had a Bob's burger years ago. Tasted like cardboard. Pure crap. Went back two years later and tried the chicken on lettuce. Once again cardboard. Yuck! I will never go back. This was at the Salvador airport. Subway is a much better option. At least Subway tries to give you something edible.

If you are going to the trouble of making your own pizza, then it's really worth making your own base too. I use simple flour, water, salt and the magic ingredient (find what you like - some people use beer, honey, milk etc) and some yeast. Leave it to stand until it rises. I cannot master the round base that well - my pizzas are fairly random shapes, but I par-cook them in the oven to give them a crispy base, bring them out and layer them, then finish them off - perfect crisp bases every time! |

This is definitely the best option. Making a pizza base is really easy. Gotta agree about pizzas in Brasil in general. Weird bases, no tomato sauce, weird cheese. Eugh. |

Amsterdam, you can thank me later... lol
Domino's Pizza Sauce 2 cups Hunt's Angela−Mia pizza sauce (You can find this at the wholesale shopping clubs − Sam's, BJ's, etc.) 1/4 cup water 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar 1 teaspoon ground oregano 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/8 teaspoon Accent (MSG) 1/8 teaspoon salt In a medium saucepan, pour in Hunt's basic sauce. Add water, and spices. Combine well, stirring over medium heat until bubbling. Lower heat, cover, and cook 20−25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool to room temperature. Store in an airtight container, refrigerated, until needed. Makes 2 cups. Because the sauce base comes only in large #10 size cans, store remaining Hunt's Angela−Mia sauce in 2 one quart jars in freezer, or fridge until you make the next batch. Pizza Hut Original Pan Pizza 1 1/3 cups Warm water (105F/41C) 1/4 cup Non−fat dry milk 1/2 teas. Salt 4 cups Flour 1 Tbls. Sugar 1 pk. Dry yeast 2 Tbls. Vegetable oil (for dough) 9 Oz. Vegetable oil (3 oz. per pan) Butter flavored Pam Put yeast, sugar, salt, and dry milk in a large (2 qt.) bowl. Add water and stir to mix well. Allow to sit for two minutes. Add oil and stir again. Add flour and stir until dough forms and flour is absorbed. Turn out on to a flat surface and knead for about 10 minutes. Divide dough into three balls. In three 9" cake pans, put 3 Oz. of oil in each making sure it is spread evenly. Using a rolling pin, roll out each dough ball to about a 9" circle. Place in cake pans. Spray the outter edge of dough with Pam. Cover with a plate. Place in warm area and allow to rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Sauce: 1 8 Ounce Can Tomato Sauce 1 Teaspoon Dry Oregano 1/2 Teaspoon Marjoram 1/2 Teaspoon Dry Basil 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic salt Combine and let sit for 1 hour. For Each Nine Inch Pizza: 1. Preheat oven to 475F/245C 2. Spoon 1/3 cup sauce on dough and spread to within 1" of edge. 3. Distribute 1 1/2 Oz. shredded mozzarella cheese on sauce. 4. Place toppings of your choice in this order: Pepperoni or Ham Vegetables Meats (cooked ground sausage or beef) 5. Top with 3 Oz. mozzarella cheese 6. Cook until cheese is bubbling and outer crust is brown. 7. Cut in six slices. Or, if you can just go to Pizza Hut (www.pizzahut.com.br) Sorry about the measures. But you can Google a conversion table. |
