Hello all!
Could you please help me here.. Me and my wife(brazilian) got married in 2010 here in Italy, we've already processed all our info and sent to brazil via Milan's consulate. Now we would like to move over to brazil(SP), where her parents would put us up while we sort out my visa and rne. I was wondering if it were easier and faster to request my permanent visa here in italy or in Brazil, as I've heard some horror stories like people being stuck in brazil for years without being able to work Other question is: would I need a rne in order to study (not work) in brazil, or the cpf is sufficient? Thanks Edited by joerack - 23 June 2012 at 11:08 |

Well if you apply in Italy for the permanent visa (PERMANÊNCIA) it´s for sure faster, than in Brazil. Due to the fact that you are married less than 5 years, the visa must be approved in Brazil, so it will take about 3 or 4 months to get the visa. If you were married more than 5 years the consulate can approve the visa, wich takes just a few weeks.
Anyway, it´s still faster than in Brazil, where it will take at least 1 year to be approved and then another 6 months before you get your ID. But that doesn´t mean you can´t work, while the PERMANÊNCIA is still in process. It just takes a bit more red-tape. |

Well that depends on the people at the local DRT (Delegacia Regional de Trabalho) where you apply for the CTPS. Officially you need to have the CIE (foreigners ID card), but the CIE is only issued AFTER your Permanênca-application has been approved and when you registered and apply for the CIE. Then it still takes at least six months for the CIE to be issued and ready for pickup. But what you can do is, ask the Polícia Federal for a SINCRE printout, in case you data is already in the system. Or at least for a Letter of Confirmation, declaring your legal status in Brazil. With either of thoose documents it´s possible to get a CTPS, valid acoring to your protocolo (Permanência or CIE). Of course, first you need to have a serious job offer. Wich is not that easy. ![]() |

I see...
I have one last question... After moving to brazil, my wife would need to find a job, and me also after we've cleared out our documents. This might complicate things when my wife would have to state that she can support me financially. (based on what) So I could be denied the visto from italy,, right? And what if I were to request the visto from brazil instead, (hoping to have a better chance as I would be already there) and my application were rejected- could I be, like deported after the 3 months are up? thanks again |

@joerack I don't think that you need to worry about this. If you apply in Italy, your wife will go with you and sign a "termo de responsabilidade" and that's it.

I agree. Relax! Even if you apply in Brazil, the part your wife has to do is just to sign a declaration of support. As far as I remember, when I applied, they didn´t even asked my wife WHAT she´s doing for work, much less asking for any proof, such as declaration from her employer or proof of income. ![]() |
