When my wife gets her master next year she's going to join the army and we're going to move to the Amazon and do disease research...  Until then, I have to live in the same building as her parents :(

I get that a fair amount on the bad days, but then I think imagine being back in the UK and having a bad day thinking about being back in Brazil, that's got to be far more harsh on the mind, almost suicidal haha!

Yes, mostly there is not much about the UK that I miss - it's mostly just things that don't work here. Like laws, plumbing, electricity, and anything that involves emailing people, or giving anyone an opportunity to say 'Computer says no..'

Likewise I don't miss the UK but I do miss London as a divers city whereby you can pretty much get your hands on any thing that you want any time.

Here its just the attitude of the people that gets to us the most, just you've just summed it up really with your "computer says no.." comment.
That can really push you to the limit especially if you depend on Brazilians to help you make your livelihood, which we do.

I know we've been having bad weather around Sao Paulo/Rio recently but check out these - they'll help with any second thoughts haha

My brasileira wife and I can name many places in EUA and Europa that we like and might rather live someday, but for now, Brasil is very economically opportune for us, and we are happily thankful for what we have here and being in a position to do it...all the while laughing at the foibles brasilian and cussing the things that suck. It's the life we make it, and we know the grass is not always greener...but it might be. We always keep moving dream options open for someday anyway. In the meantime, life is what we have, nada mais. What could have been has little importance in the face of what is and what we can make it.

Brazil wouldn’t be my first choice of ideal abode, but then life is far from ideal; life contrives and contorts our fate beyond rational imagination. With this in mind there surely comes a point when one is obliged to intuitively stand back and allow the sudden understanding that this world is but a theater on whose stage is played a black comedy. We, the protagonists in this bouncy castle, ricochet from the excesses of chaotic mayhem to sublimity while never really knowing how we manage to excel or to phuck it all up. Personally, I am closer to washing my hands of it all, closer to allowing the world to continue without my input; an input that has hitherto been largely futile in the grand scale of things, and to sit back and enjoy all things, including the bloody disasters and crass stupidities of Man. Why do I feel like this? Perhaps it’s because it’s easier or perhaps it protects one’s sanity from the inanities of life; to laugh at the circus clowns and not be part of their troupe [Phuck it…I’m gonna open a bottle of wine]. Pinch

We're all soul searchin' in the Esprit-speare. Accute sensitivity is a blessing and a curse.

Many brazilians would leave Brazil in a heartbeat, they usually go to Europe and get bored out of hell and then they return, heard it million times.

This is exactly why we have laws about releasing exotic species from captivity and returning them to the wild. It’s all about habitat, environment and social structure.  LOL

There's a mistake with that, but anyway-- those relatives are probably grumbling right now "that rich finnish guy is tooo sovino.." Be sure to look on the floor for banana peels and always check the ladder for the support pins.

Luckily I haven't had to deal with any family bums, but I bet that's fairly common here.
