My name is Vladimir, I just got out of the US navy and I am attending college. My major is Kenisiology and my minor is Portuguese.  I am wondering if these degrees will help me get a job in Brazil....does anybody know? And if it doesnt , what should I do?

No idea about the Kenisology but I can tell you that as a native speaker of English, you could pretty easily get an English speaking job! ;)

The only way to get ahead in Brazil is to start your own company.  Build off of your navy experience in one of a few ways:

1. Be a body guard/tour guide for gringos.  It pays about R$400 a day.

2. (which I think would work out better) Open a paintball course.  Use cool guns that look like real ones with a shooting range.  Give lessons and hold competitions for pm's and guardas municipais.  There is one place out in Paracambi (outskirts of Rio) that does this and charges something like R$250 per person for 2 days for groups of 20or more (R$5000 per weekend).

Everyone sees American cops and military officers in the movies at shooting ranges.  Even though you probably never used a gun in the Navy outside of basic training, Brazilians don't need to know that and can easily trick themselves into thinking otherwise.  A paintball shooting range would be a big hit!!!  Especially if directed by a gringo "expert"Wink
