if you're changing USD or Euro, I'm sure you'll be able to find an easy way to change that. but for other currencies, good luck.

The best exchange rate you'll get is by withdrawing money from an ATM in Brazil.

Changing cash- in my experience I've found the best rate to be at the smaller cambio outfits like those in tourist heavy Copacabana.

Absolute worst deal you will get is changing at the Airport (especially a non-Brazilian airport, Travelex in the US is by far the biggest rip off) and pretty much any cambio outside of Brazil.

I am heading to Peru for a break in a few days and have been trying to get hold of some Soles (in Salvador) before travelling (have been here so long I have no currency except Reais!). It is like looking for the Holy Grail! Back home (in the UK) every bank, post office and travel agent can get you any currency you like, and you can even order online for home (next-day) delivery - here they look at you as though you are crazy (maybe I am ??). I am hoping that I might have some luck at Sao Paulo airport (5 hour layover), or that I can find a working ATM upon arrival in Lima.
