Realtor is a regulated profession, meaning that you cannot excercise the profession without being registered.

So renting your owned property on a short term rental basis without a realtor license doesn't break any Real Estate law?

No, you can rent at will.

You wouldn't have any pointers as to where I could find a reference to that online or otherwise, would you Sven?

Excellent links. I accept what you (and Angoinfo) have said.

So do you think owners are also allowed to advertise, rent or sell any of their properties without using a realtor?

Thanks again

Tom

PS
Have a beer on me, Gringodude, as an owner, I don't want subletting to go on either, unless I'm informed and agree to it.
Keep passing the open windows.

Sure. Buy sell, rent, advertise, donate, abandon, you can do all of those without a realtor.

I would like to rent my home/apartment on short term rental (less than a month), using an online website to advertise it. Am I required to register as a realtor to do this?

Can anyone advise me on what the law is?

Thanks

Tom

Not necessarily. You can be a DYI, assuming all along, the perils of doing by yourself.

What you should get by using a licensed broker, otherwise:

- tenant credit check.
- income verification
- screening of potential shows.
- drafting a thorough and enforceable lease contract.
-better advertising exposure.
-your famíly safety.
