Being close to police officer put you in danger. At least here, all the PM's are on the kill list, and the trafficants gets a bonus if you kill a cop, higher in rank higher the bonus. One new PM tenant has a R$10k from his head. He is too eager to catch the scum bags and does not accept money to look elsewhere, like the old guys do. That's a great attitude, but he may die young, maybe even from "friendly" fire... The corruption is really deep in police forces as in politics as well. I'd never travel in a PM's civil car. There's nothing to brag about knowing a PM. I know few pretty well but they are only welcome in their civil clothes and only during day time, and they understand this.
Once a while they have had a coffee in my place but then they arrive with the swat team vehicle, carrying shot guns and all the lights on, looking like they are raiding my place so the neighbourhood has no clue what's going on. All the "street sales" guys disappear for the rest of the day

^^Drama queen much?
I have worked with the PM's in your city several times and do not recognize your description. I currently working on the "Ronda no Bairro" project and will go there in a week or two to start testing. They are corrupt of course but things are changing. Edited by Twirly - 10 May 2012 at 13:43 |

You don't have up to date information then. The one I mentioned had only R$10k on his head (told in A Critica interview), this other guy had R$25k, went up to R$40k, that started to cause bullets to fly around, this is from local news also:
You dont' want to hang around in a bar with this guy? Like the one poster said it is cool to say in a bar, I know this PM?
A lot of people are dying with stray bullets. This is not a problem in my bairro yet and hopefully will never come. Edited by tamte - 10 May 2012 at 14:42 |

Maybe not all, I can correct that.
But another case few months back: A guy was robbing a bank did not get the money and walked out. He saw a PM in the front of the bank, this guy shot him in the back (the PM died), wounded some other people around and fled the scene.
The PM did not even know what happened, he was not here because of the bank robber, there was not even an alarm yet. The PM was trying help some old guy on the street.
I was just saying be carefull when there's PM's around. It is not their fault, it is the corrupted system that allows criminals to do what ever they want.

I work with all branches of the armed forces as well in your region.
There is always some risk. Found some floaters once up river when working with the govt.
But in general it is very quiet and nice work no drama at all. |
