Mass communication...hmmm
You could apply for a job to drive a car around with huge speakers recommending the local supermarket or just opened snack bar. But for that you need a drivers license. You could also try to make banners (they sell at R$7 a meter) If you're good at painting and off course your Portuguese has to be excellent since customers usually are bad in it. Maybe building websites for a R$250 each? |

kusya, getting a job in Brazil is a major pain because there are a lot of costs involved in having employees. Then if you're a foreigner, you have the language and cultural barriers.
There was somebody on here that is a graphics designer who works with clients in other countries. Being "independent" is the only way for many people. Me included. I couldn't get anybody to sign my card for anything. Then I looked at the real value of the salaries here and decided it's more profitable NOT to have a real job. |

kusya, seriously, it depends on what you are doing. I think this is why so many foreigners come to Brasil and just end up teaching English classes to lazy Brazilians.
You would be a foreigner here, so it is not the same. Opening a business here is extremely risky. Most businesses close within 1 year or less. SEBRAE (don't ask me what that means, I forgot) - has statistics on it's website that say that for every 100 businesses that open, only 1 will still be in business in 10 years. I think I said it, but check out things you can do at a distance, like writing or graphic design. |

And please don't do the cliché thing and open a marketing publication. There was one here that started last year. Nice quality-- really -- in terms of design. They wanted me to do some advertising. I said "I'll think about it..", which really means "Naaahh.." Then my went after my Brazilian wife with the "half price discount" and I explained to her why that publication is due to fail under the current model.
The last business I saw here that opened, I asked my wife if it was still open out of curiosity, thinking it would probably close. She said "yeah, it's still open." One month later, they closed. I went to my dentist last week. The guy is so busy. He has so many clients and literally works his a$$ off. He works from 6-7 am until 10 at night every night. I asked him how he does it. He said "If you have something that works out, it is bound to happen." I agree with him. If you are good at something (can be anything), you will be in demand. You'll have to work a lot, but you will most likely make good money as well. |
