Hi guys.
I married brazilian, soon I hope to get Carteira de Trabalho.
I'm looking for job opportunities here, in Brazil, RJ.
There is anybody working in oil sector, offshore?

Although I dont have experience, but I know already which courses I need to do.
Do you know, its possible to get job in oil rig? I am good to start with, how they call it, roustabout, roughneck. How much is salary?

I appreciate everything you can tell me.

I found just this one:
I would like to hear from guys who know more, even better if they are working in it and can tell me more.
My situation is, that I don't have experience in offshore. So I am planing to do basic safety courses, profession course, and go to look for job.
In the future I would like to finish more courses, to get better position.

If somebody have some more specific information, please write here, don't say, go and search. I am asking here after long searching.

in my experience, if you are foreign and don't have experience, you might as well start begging in the street.

go to wherever you came from, get experience and come back.

hope that helps!

Not nice??

I gave you my honest advice. Be sure to post on the board if you get an oil rig job with no experience as a foreigner.

By the way, you have to speak English for a lot of those jobs.

Boa sorte

Obi 1,

I am quite keyed into the oil and gas industry in many places. I can tell you with all honesty that Brazil is one of the most difficult sectors of the industry for an expat to get into. Everyone, I know that has worked or are working in the oil and gas in Rio either started with a company who is multinational in another location and got transferred to Brazil or had great contacts to get them in. I was the latter.

Also, to work in Brazil as an engineer you need to have at least 3 years of solid experience. There is no exceptions to this and saw a guy recently get denied even though his company was sponsoring him to get in.

The oil and gas industry in Brazil is completed laid out to benefit Brazilians, put Brazilians in the senior positions, etc... I am not trying to be over dramatic but this is the reality at the moment in oil and gas in Brazil.
Now Kuala Lumpur Newf!!!

Just to clarify, residency (permanency) and citizen are very different.

You are not Brazilian. You are a resident of Brazil. After some years of continuous perm. residency you can naturalize and become Brazilian.

I guess you don't think I'm mean anymore, huh?
