You can get a temporary work book with the perm res protocol.
It is valid for 180 days.

Go to the Policia Federal and get the SINCRE print out for your temp number.
It is valid for 180 days.

The easy part is getting the work book.
Getting a job is another story unless you have something lined up.
To get the work book you also need a CPF (tax number) Which is very easy to get....go figure as to why

I agree with this.
Our local friends, neighbors, my wife's family say, they will help me.
But they talking same for my wife long time, and she is still unemployed.
However, I prefer better to try, then to wait for the gift of the god.

BTW, I got my CPF long time ago.

Yabadabadooo!!!
I got carteira!
It was not to easy.
Guy in PF did not want to give any printouts. Hi gave some paper just after few kicks to his skinny boom.
And surprisingly, it was not exactly same paper, they want in MTE.
So they got few kicks while accepted it.
My wife was even recording some managers speech, but after all he agree, that actually I have all necessary documents, so he agree.
Yesterday I got my carteira.
I just need job ;)

Guys,
I got the job offer, but...
they say, I need my CIE... Is it true?
Because I have my carteira de trabalho, but permanency application still in progress.
Anybody knows something about it?

No, they should take your protocolo and passport for now along with the carteira.

Once you get your CIE, you will need to get your employer a copy of it.

Already 3 months gone after process was started, and still no record in the page of Ministry of justice. Is it normal?

Mine happened quickly.... 4 months from the date of the PF visit.  Have you had your PF visit yet?  If not then its still in the hands of the PF and MOJ dont know anything about you as yet.

You can get your work book.  Your wife needs to speak to a supervisor.  All you need is your protocolo and your passport.  You do not need any additional papers.  I got mine literally the same day I got my protocolo.

For the record: finally, 5 months after applying for permanency, we got a call from FP, guy called us to interview. We came, and he say, he is gonna send my application to Brasilia.

P.S. I have a job already! (cleaning tables in Outback ;) )
