I agree.  Be careful.  Like don't use the company.  I just received my box that was picked up in Boston on August 22, 2011.  Just Wednesday, April 4, 2012.  That is almost 8 months of being told it will be here in two weeks.  First inquiry was right before the 120 day mark when the online inquiry would not provide any information.  I was told I could not even inquire until the 4 months had past.  Then I started checking on a regular basis and was first told 4 - 6 weeks (it was around Christmas) then it was 2 weeks - canned answers.  When we did get the box on Wednesday it was open on one end - the bottom.  This side up arrows on all sides and they had it on the top with the bottom literally open.  We were missing a silicone pan and a pair of men's hiking boots.  I guess we are lucky to not be missing more.  But weird things to take since there were more expensive, saleable items in the box.  My advice is don't use BR Courier.
Warm Regards,
Teri

The current situation may be as you describe, but my experience is different.

Last year, when many other companies were abandoning containers of boxes on the dock in Brazil, BR Courier delivered our box in exactly the 4 months they promised with all contents present and undamaged. When I called after 3 months to check on progress (because I could not see it online), they answered the phone the first time and told me the box had just arrived in Brazil (in the time frame they had promised initially) and would be at our house within a month, which it was, promptly.

I would like to know what about the shipping situation (new rules in Brazil?), not about the company itself, has changed since then, since I would like to send another carton at an affordable price (the around U$200 or so that it had been).

Seems Fastway is now charging U$1000-1500 (depending on location) for 3 cartons of the same regular (27-29") size, and calling it a "mini-mudanca". Fastway also now requires paperwork that prohibits anyone without Brazilian ID and proof of being out of Brazil for over a year to ship.

Jess;

Sorry for the delay in response.  puter problems.  I am surprised at the price you paid.  We paid $320.  to ship a 48" box and were told the one box would be delivered to Brazil in 90 - 120 days.  We shipped through an agent in Boston who we've done alot of other business with.  My husband was skeptical that we could send a box for that price with no weight restrictions - whatever you can fit in the box (that is legal to ship)  We shopped all over and this was the most cost effective shipper we saw.  Our agent did tell us that that he never got complaints of non-delivered boxes but did hear about boxes being delivered late.  We never imagined 4-5 months late!  I wish you good luck but I would never use BRcourier again.
Warm Regards,
Teri

Vera;

Are you saying the company has gone out of business and that is why I didn't receive my box as promised?  I think the fact that I called the Atty General's office and BBB (becos) they are governed by US and state laws, helped "find" my box and deliver it.

Teri

Queixa ao escritório do procurador-geral no estado que você enviou a caixa de. Esperemos que, MA - eles são muito bons em ajudar as pessoas com empresas que não cumprirem as suas obrigações.
Boa sorte!

Well, it seems no one will get a chance to, or any other shipper sending single boxes at a reasonable price and without Brazilain ID and proof of living outside Brazil for 1 year plus, or permanencia, in the forseeable future.
So those of us who would like a certain item for our homes in Brazil may end up with the only recourse of paying 5X the price for that given item in Brazil, sending an expensive mini-mudanca with complete documentation, or sending an entire 20 foot container also with complete documentation.

As for those who have cartons in the Brazilian ports, they may at best recover '10 cents on the dollar' of the price of the shipping only.
