Yup, in a modern building, or a well build house, you can just throw it in the toilet.

If it looks like it's going to clog, just throw a few huge buckets of water in the toilet and start using the basket.

LOLLOLLOL
LOL
LOLIn Rio, "modern" and "well built" don't seem to go together very often.

When we lived in a newish apartment in Recreio, we had to use the basket.  In our 80year old house in the Z. Norte we don't.

I live in a 30 year old building about 2 blocks from the center of Goiania, and my girl still insists that you can't flush your sh/t tickets.  Is she...full of it?

It's not the septic tanks, it's the fact that they:
1) don't use the correct declive/slope in the drain, making the water go way faster than the paper, combined with
2) 90 degree corners in the drain, as 2 45 degree corners are 100% more expensive than 1 90 degree corner. Water easily navigates these corners, as does pis, paper and poo however have way more dificultiy to sucessfuly make these turns and
3) 2 inch piping is cheaper than 4 inch. Poo + paper gets more easilly stuck in 2 inch pipes, especially if the declive is wrong and the corners are 90 degrees.
4) Homes don't generally have crawl spaces, so if sh*t hits the fan, or in this case, the sh*t and paper hit a dry 90 degree corner, and get stuck, one needs to break open the floor untill one finds which 90 degree corner is the problem. It's just a question of economics.

Flush or Not or not Flush, that is the question.

My feeling is that if you live in a casa made by 'handy'brazilian esperto, forget about flushing, because it could be the last flush for a looong time, cause all the about mentioned applies.
If you live in a new apartment, go for it and flush, especially if you live on a higher floor. (gravitation helps )
