Last year we went to the local Carnaval, and while it wasn't very big, nothing like you see on tv from other cities, we enjoyed ourselves and I hope to go again this year. I'd be happy to meet up with some of you if you want to go!

A bateria da Escola de Samba Portela chega a Belo Horizonte para uma sequencia de cinco ensaios no Music Hall (Avenida do Contorno, 3239 – Santa Efigênia). As apresentações irão acontecer nos dias 16, 23 e 29 de janeiro e 6 e 13 de fevereiro.

Hi ya - Sorry in the end, opted to do my first carnaval experience in Brazil in Rio so will not be in BH for the equivalent :-(

Anyone else in Rio?

Hi! France was a bit cold but I was in the South for a while so not soooo cold! Thanks for asking!

I just called the place that you mentioned and they are open on Saturdays. I am assuming it will be Saturday since you can't make it on Fridays, right? What time?

Haus Munchen is cool! Lots of good beers to choose from. Gets a bit crowded later (but where doesn't?).

I'm good for Friday (I think - need to check with the wife), but have other plans for Saturday - 1st saturday of the month the observatory at Serra Piedade is open - should be able to see the comet this weekend :)
