The upper class in São Paulo also has to factor in bullet proof cars. What are they going for lately? |

man that is a hell of a salary in Brazil...
you need to consider that the minimum salary is about R$600 per month... which I guess is about US $350 a month??? most lower middle class families are living off around R$2000 - R$3000 a month about 1500 US... so you are going to be a real high earner... and your life will be different, very different to the average Brazilian... which can be good or bad and also make you a target!

Ok Scott. Don't scare the man. Once he keeps a low profile and drives a normal car he should be alright. Also be very careful not to disclose your salary to anyone and always be vigilante.

Oh stop it with the nonsense bulletproof cars. I know many upper class Paulistas and Paulistanos and none of them have bullet proof cars. Stop trying to scare people away because you have some personal problem with Brazil.
Taxes are a consideration though! |

It is the police, celebrities and politicians who needs bulletproof cars. They are often on the "kill list".
It doesn't make sense to kill a rich person (a foreigner anyway), they want you alive to get acces to your money. Bullet proofing doesn't stop them to stop your car and get you out of it.
Even for me as the "survavilist", bulletproofing is an overkill.

Humm. strange coincidence I posted on some thread on here that I don't know of any foreigner who has a great job in Brazil - totally registered. Looks like a troll to me. You sure know a lot about your area for someone who has yet to live in Brasil.
Anyway, if it's true.. good luck, but I doubt you will last for long. If you are a troll a.k.a. "Kurtz" - gosh, you really need some activities to do. I like how the post was so vague. Almost nobody pays in USD in Brasil. That's actually illegal I believe. I say "I believe" because I saw something in the Brazilian tax code about that. Can't remember what it was... I just no it's not so common any more. |

Also no activity specified.. no more details. Very vague. Sounds like a certified WENKER to me. (the guy who was a "member" here before.
And screw the dollar. The GBP/EUR/CHF are much better. You gave away your nationality by saying you are paid with that toilet paper. |

coming from NYC as well here. How's a 200,000 BRL salary in Sao Paulo? I'd be looking for an apartment in the Moema area. I am coming down there in 6 months and trying to get a feel of the salary and how comfortable myself and wife can live. any advice would be appreciated!
