Did the Brazilian authorities ask you to surrender your gringo passport? Do they communicate anything to the government of your country of origin? I am wayyyy ahead of myself here, I just enjoy thinking things through, but.. what happens in the case where your country of origin, like mine, doesn't allow dual citizenship?

I hear they ship the passport to your embassy. In any case, usually if you apply for a new passport, they ask you if you have obtained a new nationality. Obviously you need to answer truthfully. |

I heard they dont ship your passport to the embassy, but they for sure inform the consulate. In my case they shipped the passport to the consulate in SP and consul called me a couple of days after asking me to come and take it back. |

At which point you will have to prove this name has portuguese roots... as you cant change a name just to anything. Only to a portuguese name.

Don’t you see? With hell frozen and
a ring piercing my newly grown tit, the name is yet another impediment and all part
of a cunning plan. |

I think Esprit should change his name to Zaphod Beeblebrox. Seems very appropriate.
