It is, but just not if you just you had a car crash and are between life and death. You'll end up waiting too long waiting for your turn, and every second is precious when you're saving lives.

Mega, seriously, it depends on where you live. If you live in a large city, then the wait times may be longer. But where I live, gunshot victims, or crash victims are not an everyday occurrence. Thank goodness!! So these people get attention pretty quickly. Bigger cities can have longer wait times.

Still, the CRAZIEST thing I have ever heard of is that here they don't carry paddles in an ambulances here in this area. So even with health insurance, you will still [likely] die in this situation (heart attack and ambulance is coming to pick you up). The only people I know who survived heart attacks here were when family members got in the car and hauled a$$ to the closest hospital.

I'm so tired of expats pointing out everything that's wrong with Brazil.

This isn't the US. Take off your gringo goggles. Go live somewhere else if you want paddles in rescue vehicles.

Well, what can I say here? First, you're right when you say this isn't the US, so he can't expect the health system to behave the same. That can prove to be fatal. That's what I'm telling him. Some days, the public hospital you will be heading to will be empty. If that's the case, lucky you (or your friends / family.) But if it's not, then you or your loved ones will probably agonize for two or three days waiting for help, and you won't be able to do anything except to wait (or to die.)

Here's a news report about babies dying in Pará because of the bad conditions of their hospitals:

About the paddles, yes, they should be there in the ambulance and many other public and private places; they can save many lives that would be lost. Unfortunately, our population doesn't know how to fight for their rights. You seem rightfully concerned, so by all means do file a complaint to your local government about that and encourage people to do the same – while most people won't listen to you, let's hope some will.

In any case, do buy your own paddles if you have a heart problem, just in case.

My experience was/is that Brazilian girls go for Brazilian guys (long term).  All the Brazilian girls, I was informed, in London or Paris for example, wouldn't go near a gringo at all.  I was just using my scorching hot chat-up lines to make it happen with the wild Brazilian love machine for me...and boy, did it cost a lot of money!!!

Seriously, that is the FIRST time I ever heard a gringo lay claim to fame on that note.  For example, all Eastern European women in London go to the Brazilian pick-up joints because they want to be pounded by Latin poles all night.  And I don't recall hearing too many complaints about the performances!

The complaints are mainly about their reluctance to pay the going rate, so I hear.

Criminals are never very amusing. It's because they're failures. Those who make real money aren't counted as criminals. This is a class distinction, not an ethical problem.

I was being sarcastic b/c bobby repeats that to anyone who has any sort of criticism of Brazil in tens of other forum threads.

Similarly, according to Bob, you are now allowed to have your opinion on paddles because this is Brazil, and all Brazilians have one opinion. Stop catering to foreign influence!

I have heard from several young women that nationality is not a good predictor of performance in bed...
