Totally, though it's rather the opposite- you HAVE to go with her. Have you talked to her about why she doesn't feel comfortable going out without you? Maybe it's that she feels she needs to show you off, or she's afraid she'll get hit on, or some such. If she's a keeper it's worth talking about, calmly.
That said, I have a couple of friends in this situation; he is never allowed to go anywhere without her. She is afraid he will get whisked away, I guess, but I always cringe to think of being in that situation- to be that insecure with your own GF/BF, or to be the person who has to follow the rules otherwise whining/drama/moping etc result. That's a setup for a rather large explosion somewhere down the line.

I was once told they went looking for me because I didn't come home until breakfast, which is understandable. The point rather I have a friend married to a brazilian, he is kind of the narrow ackward type, I think it could be a matter of their concern for safety. ...

Depends if you're a dork who looks easy to Rob haha or if she doesn't trust you..who knows..

For me personally? I've never been deprived of going out alone... I do whatever I want, the only time it draws concern is if we have other obligations, a schedule conflict. I've never been suspected of wrong doing, or interviewed based on my absence. Like I said saftey may be of concern for some families, but that's all I can say. As for pure jealousy well sorry for all you going through that lol, grow a pair..
